Financial Controller (Boston)
Exciting Opportunity for an Experienced Financial Controller
360PR+ is seeking a senior financial leader to join our team as Controller at our Boston headquarters. 360PR+ enjoys an excellent reputation as a leading public relations and marketing agency with $10-$12 million in annual fees and some of the most trusted brands as clients. As we enter the next phase of our growth, we are seeking a seasoned, hands-on financial leader with 10+ years in finance and accounting roles, having served in a controllership position for two or more years. Priority will be given to candidates with some experience in an agency or other professional services environment, though all candidates with relevant experience will be considered.
The Controller will oversee and mentor members of 360’s finance team, collaborate with the Vice President of Human Resources and other members of our Operations team, and report to 360’s CEO and partners, providing financial analysis and insights to help guide the strategic growth of the business. This is a client-facing role, too, calling for exceptional organization and communication skills. Day-to-day responsibilities include full charge bookkeeping, banking, taxes, payroll, managing time and expense systems, liaison with the 401k plan, insurance, accounting, and other partners, and more.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Maintain general ledger and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including P&L, balance sheets and cash flow, for 360PR+ and its sister agency Three Cheers PR
- Manage banking relationship, monitoring cash flow on a daily basis
- Oversee new client set up and directly manage key client billing relationships, including purchase orders, documentation of monthly expenses, and follow-up as needed
- Oversee bi-monthly payroll for approximately 75 employees, including all related employment taxes, 401k, and other benefits and regulatory compliance
- Provide monthly staff utilization reports and quarterly capacity analyses
- Provide training to staff regarding use of time entry system, expense filing, client billing, and other agency financial systems
- Periodically provide data and other inputs for industry research and surveys that 360 chooses to participate in, analyze resulting reports, and ensure 360 complies with industry benchmarks and best practices
- Provide supporting documentation for 360’s women-owned business certification and memberships in PROI and other professional organizations
- Coordinate preparation and filing of quarterly and annual taxes with accounting firm
Qualifications:
- 10 years of finance and accounting experience, with 2+ years serving in a controllership position, ideally in a professional services business
- Holds a B.S. or Masters’ degree in accounting or finance
- Expert knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and practices
- Desire to mentor, with close attention to detail, and work as part of an integrated team
- Thrives in an entrepreneurial environment and wants to contribute to a growing business
- Strong analytical skills and data-driven mindset
- Expert skill level in QuickBooks and Excel; experience with Webvantage a bonus
